The young racing phenom and multi-titled racing champion Iñigo Anton added another win in his illustrious career by emerging victorious in last weekend’s Toyota Vios Racing’s Autocross Challenge for Toyota car owners in the special, tight track laid inside the Clark International Circuit in Pampanga.

Right after being awarded top academic honors at the Baguio Achiever’s Academy in the same week, the 14-year old Iñigo drove flawlessly and dominated the second leg of the Vios Autocross race that saw veterans also competing for the top honors.

“I’m glad we came out on top for the second time in this series,” the young Iñigo said after the race. “I thank the Lord and Mama Mary for keeping me safe in the races and to Mark Young Racing for providing us the Vios to qualify on.”

Anton set the best time of the day against 50 other racers in the Autocross Challenge and now holds a good lead in the championship standings with two more rounds remaining. The younger Anton has a good mentor in his father Carlos, who is one of the country’s most prolific racing champions.

“His mom always tells him to prioritize his studies, but of course racing also takes a lot of time and preparation. So we’re just really amazed on how he can manage to juggle school and racing and come out a champion in both. We are really proud of his achievements and how hard he works for them,” Carlos Anton said about his son.

On board a stock Vios 1.3-liter E model prepared by Mark Young Racing, Anton consistently set the fastest time during practice and the qualifying. He set a blistering time of 51.46 seconds over No. 2 qualifier Michael Scott Carbonel, who checked in at 53.51 seconds.

It was in the finals where Anton really picked up the pace, setting an almost unbelievable time of 49.99 seconds to take the win against Carbonel’s 52.65 seconds. Alexis Lavapie checked in at third place with a time of 53.02 seconds.

“We are so happy and proud of our driver Iñigo,” said Mark Young Racing-Cars Unlimited Team owner Mark Young. “It is a unique series because they all use Toyota Vios cars, and Iñigo was still able to come out on top.”

The team now heads to Meycauayan Bulacan for the fifth round of the Philippine Autocross series where Iñigo leads the Open Championship. Anton is backed by Mark Young Racing, Cars Unlimited, Yokohama, Parts Pro, Mohspeed, MP Turbo, Special Stage, JSD Autosport, Kilton, Kart Plaza, Carporn and Fix Stop.
