MANILA, Philippines – Angat Dam’s water level rose to 160 meters on Tuesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

As of 6a.m., the dam’s water level was measured at 160.29 meters — a 0.44-meter increase from Monday’s 159.85 meter level.

National Water Resources Board (NWRB) Executive Director Sevillo David Jr. said that continuous rains due to the southwest monsoon helped boost dam’s water level.

“Mas nakatulong po yung mga pag-ulan dulot po ng habagat at nakaabot po ito sa Angat Dam, unang-una  po ay binasa muna dahil tuyong-tuyo po talaga,”  David said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer.

David, however, said that despite the development, there will be no increase in the water allocation for Metro Manila households.

(Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
