Pasig City’s Janelle Tee crowned Miss PH Earth 2019

A former television game show host who wants to promote eco-tourism in the country was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2019 during a daytime pageant held at a luxury resort in Paranaque City yesterday.
Filipino-Chinese Janelle Lazo Tee of Pasig City edged out 39 other candidates in the annual environment-driven beauty contest.
“I want to help strengthen communities through this. Every community will have inclusive growth through area development, preserving their culture and environmental stewardship,” said Tee who used to be part of the popular GMA 7 game show “Wowowin” hosted by Willie Revillame.
Tee added: “This will help alleviate poverty by providing livelihood through its participation in eco-tourism and help improve the environment through the conscious effort of the community to work together towards the sustainable development of the eco-tourism area.”
Other winners were: Ana Tan, Miss Philippines Earth Air (Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental); Chelsea Fernandez, Miss Philippines Earth Water (Tacloban City); Alexandra Dayrit, Miss Philippines Earth Fire, (Marikina); and Karen Piccio, Miss Philippines Earth Eco-Tourism (Maasin, Iloilo).
All the five winners of this year’s contest were trained under the Kagandahang Flores beauty camp of pageant guru Rodgil Flores. This is also the 15th straight win for the KF team as title holder of Miss Philippines Earth since Karla Henry.
Tee had earlier said that she wanted to win the pageant “to be of service to my countrymen and Mother Earth.” (Robert Requintina)
