MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde on Friday said the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) could possibly be behind the adoption of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) of a resolution calling for a probe into the human rights situation in the country.

“[That’s] possible. It’s because that’s part of propaganda also, ‘yung (the) CPP-NPA (New People’s Army) is so against the Duterte administration now, so pwede (it’s possible),” Albayalde told reporters when asked of this possibility.

Albayalde said the CPP has “contacts and connections” when asked how the group might have possibly influenced the UN to make the move.

He explained that the CPP would not have reached its 50th founding anniversary in December 2018 if it did not have these contacts.

Hindi magiging 50 years na problema natin ito kung walang suporta ito (They would not reach 50 years if it does not have any support),” he said.   /muf
