Ginebra routs Magnolia to reach semis

DEFENDING champion Barangay Ginebra San Miguel repeated over Magnolia, 106-80, in second game of their quarterfinal best-of-three showdown on Tuesday to reach the semifinals of Season 44 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Behind Justin Brownlee’s spectacular third quarter showing, the Gin Kings stretched their 47-39 halftime lead to an 87-60 advantage at the start of the payoff period after outscoring the Hotshots, 40-21, in the third quarter.
Brownlee scored 30 points, secured nine rebounds and had six assists while Japhet Aguilar and LA Tenorio contributed 18 and 13 points, respectively, for Ginebra.
Veteran Mark Caguioa and Stanley Pringle finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively, also for Ginebra.
The Gin Kings will be facing the quarterfinal winner between TNT KaTropa and Alaska in the semifinals.
Mark Barroca scattered 17 points for the Hotshots.
