MANILA, Philippines — The camp of Peter Joemel Advincula, alias “Bikoy” in the narcolist videos, is preparing to post bail worth P10,000 for his temporary freedom, after he surrendered to the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), his counsel said Tuesday.

“We are now processing the bail para makalaya siya temporarily [so he can be freed temporarily],” lawyer Lorenzo “Larry” Gadon told reporters in a chance interview.

Gadon did not identify the court where they plan to post bail for the release of Advincula, who is now at the CIDG-National Capital Region Field Unit at Camp Crame, after the Legazpi City Regional Trial Court Branch 5 released a warrant of arrest against him over a cyberlibel case filed by businessman Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co.

Gadon, who said he is offering free legal services to Advincula, said the latter’s family is raising funds for his client’s bail.

“Yung kaso ay nasa [The case is in] Legazpi, so we will process the bail procedures here and ipapadala pa yun doon sa Legazpi [and it will be sent to Legazpi] and it might probably take another day,” he said.

He explained that a certificate of the detention for Advincula, which is required in posting bail, is already being readied by the CIDG.

Gadon also refused to disclose where Advincula had stayed prior to his surrender to the CIDG on Monday night, saying it will pose a security risk to his client.

Lt. Col. Arnold Thomas Ibay, chief of the CIDG-NCRFU, said Advincula will stay at their office until he posts bail. /jpv
