CLARK FREEPORT — Some 300 runners, including employees of the Clark Development Corp. (CDC), have raised funds for a cancer-stricken colleague by hurdling a 5-kilometer event here on Sunday.

The initial P85,000 proceeds were contributed for the bi-weekly blood transfusion of 49-year-old Adelina Acla.

She had been in and out of the hospital in the last 12 years due to gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Internal bleeding is worsened by cysts.

Her co-employees, as well as friends in Clark Water, Smart Telecommunications and Smoke Events Center Management, organized the event to kick-off fund-raising events for her treatment.

Pampanga Infinite Runners and Joggers Unlimited were among the first ones to respond to the run-for-a-cause event.

“I am here knocking on your heart to assist me in my journey. I still want to be with my family. I still want to laugh with my friends and colleagues and most especially I still want to live for myself,” Acla said.

Donors can deposit to BDO Account in the name of Alfonso B. Acla (001311101169) or can contact 09195813661 for further inquiries. Tonette Orejas  /lzb
