A man recovered his lost wedding ring with the help of a stranger who happened to be searching the beach as well, with a metal detector.

Tim Martin lost his wedding ring while playing with his son on the beach in New Jersey, United States, ABC’s WPVI-TV reported on Thursday, Aug. 1. According to Martin, the ring was custom ordered, and made out of platinum and diamonds.

“We’ve been married, this year, will be our 13th anniversary, so October will be 13 years,” Martin was quoted as saying. “When we got married, we went to the jewelry store and I said, ‘If my wife is getting diamonds, I want diamonds.’ So it was a special ring.”

After searching for hours, Martin was about to give up when he saw a stranger, Bob Brown, also searching with the use of a metal detector.

“The whole thing was a surreal moment because it was like our paths crossed at that right time where I needed him,” Martin said in the report. “I was really praying, you know, I need my ring.”

Brown dug dozens of holes to locate Martin’s ring. The ring was found after two days.

“It makes me feel really good to return something like that. Honestly, I personally don’t do this for any money, looking for stuff,” Brown was quoted as saying. “I do it for the thrill of the hunt.”

Martin was informed about Brown finding his ring through voicemail. Martin’s wife, Michelle, thought the ring was lost forever.

“It makes you realize there is so much good and it’s all around you and you just have to look around,” Michelle said as per report. “There are so many wonderful people out there and everybody should be more like Bob.”

“What Bob did for me was the true definition of kindness,” Martin said.

This was not the first time Martin lost his wedding ring. He first lost the ring during his honeymoon night. Hannah Mallorca/JB
