Meralco cuts rates for 4th time

FOR the fourth consecutive month, Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) announced a decrease of P0.4176 per kilowatt hour (kWh) in electricity rates.
In a statement on Tuesday, Meralco said this meant that the cost of electricity in August would be down to P9.5674 per kWh from last month’s P9.9850 per kWh.
“The fourth consecutive month of electricity rate-decrease represents a total downward adjustment of almost P1.00 per kWh since May 2019,” said Meralco.
Typical households that consume 200 kWh will have a decrease of P84 in their monthly bill; a 300-kWh consumption will notice a P125.28-reduction; 400 kWh, P176.04; and 500 kWh, P208.8. ANNA LEAH E. GONZALES
