Officer-involved shooting under investigation in Surrey

B.C.’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Surrey.

Few details have been released, but reports say the shooting happened near a homeless shelter on 135 A Street early Wednesday morning.

The Independent Investigations Office confirmed on social media that it had been notified of an officer-related shooting.

The IIO says it will release more details later.

Postmedia has reached out to the RCMP for comment.

There is no word yet on the extent of injuries.
