Victoria police are issuing a public warning after 10 bicycles were stolen within a 24-hour period recently.

The warning was issued on Thursday, and the bikes were reported stolen between Aug. 19 and 21 from neighbourhoods across the city.

“While there is nothing to indicate that these thefts are linked, officers are reminding bicycle owners to lock their bikes with heavy-duty locks, and when possible take them inside,” the warning read.

Police are also reminding those who keep their bikes in a garage or shed to check on them regularly.

No information about the variety of bikes stolen was available.

Cyclists in the Victoria or Esquimalt area are invited to register their bikes with police, in case of theft. More information can be found at vicpd.ca/bike.
