THERE were no illegal drugs, specifically shabu, seized from former Calauan, Laguna mayor Antonio Sanchez inside his cell at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in 2006 and 2010, his daughter said on Tuesday.

Calauan, Laguna Councilor Ave Marie Tonee Sanchez-Alcid clarified this during the Senate hearing on the alleged questionable releases of inmates under the Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) law, which included the convicted rapist-murderer.

Sanchez-Alcid denied the claim of Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Director General Nicanor Faeldon that her father’s involvement in drugs in 2006 and 2010 was one of the reasons why he recalled his release order.

“I would like to take this opportunity na mabigyan po ng tsansa na mapipakita po itong affidavit na dala namin. Kasi po kanina sa binanggit ni General Faeldon he was telling na merong ano sa drugs ang aking ama. Pero wala po sa record ng Bilibid (I would like to take this opportunity to present this affidavit in our possession. Because (BuCor Director) General Faeldon said that my father [was involved] in drugs. But there’s nothing in the Bilibid record),” she said.

Iyung isyu po sa drugs nung 2006, he was acquitted and then the other issue na sinasabi na p’wedeng makabawas sa GCTA ng aking ama was the 2010 issue ni ex-mayor Sanchez nahulihan ng isang kilong shabu (He was acquitted in the 2006 drug charge and then there’s another [drug] issue in 2010 which could have led to [a] reduction of the GCTA of my father),” she said.

She added, “Ito po ang affidavit ni undersecretary Oscar Calderon and Supt. Armando Miranda na wala pong nakuhang isang kilo na shabu noon (This is the affidavit of Undersecretary Oscar Calderon and Supt. Armando Miranda which stated that there was no kilo of shabu seized [in my father’s cell in 2010]. Wala pong ganung pangyayari (There was no such incident).” BERNADETTE E. TAMAYO
