Canadian universities are seeing increasing numbers of international students, but these students often face challenges, such as high tuition and fees.

Most financial aid options offered at universities in Canada are intended to benefit Canadian students. As an international student, options of finding aid in Canada are limited and it is critical that you understand the costs of studying here so you can plan your expenses. Understanding what costs you should expect will help to guide your financial plan as a whole.

This recently-recorded webinar by World Education Services (WES), “Funding your education in Canada” offers an overview of the financial aid landscape for international students looking to study in Canada.

World Education Services (WES) is a non-profit organization helping international students and professionals achieve their educational and professional goals in the United States and Canada. According to Beth Clarke, director of strategic partnerships at WES: “Our live and on-demand events are designed to assist international students and skilled immigrants in their quest to pursue an education or career in Canada or the United States. WES’ webinars provide timely and accurate information and resources to enable success in academic and professional settings.”

Topics covered in this webinar range from basic financial aid vocabulary to where to begin your search for funding to how to prepare your financial aid applications. You will learn more about funding options available to international students, how funding varies by level of education in Canada, and explores some of the unique financial aid options available to graduate and doctoral students, such as assistantships.

Plus, hear from panelist Carolyn Ford as she shares her tips for navigating the financial aid application process. During the webinar she provides advice on how to research, prepare, and execute a financial aid application plan.
