Nanaimo police are hoping the public can identify a man who allegedly stole money from a campground office.

According to police, an unknown man was captured on surveillance camera walking into the main office at Living Forest Oceanside Campground and RV Park, on Maki Road.

The footage then shows the man allegedly taking an undisclosed amount of money from a small canister, loitering for a few minutes and then leaving the office.

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid-40s, with shaggy dark hair and a beard and moustache. The suspect is pictured wearing grey pants and a distinctive red, white and black shirt on the surveillance footage.

Nanaimo police are asking anyone who recognizes the man to contact investigators at 250-754-2345 and cite file #2019-39752.

The 53-acre campground features 300 campsites.
