Over 500 foreigners nabbed in anti-fraud raid

THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), together with Bureau of Immigration (BI) and Chinese police, on Wednesday night arrested over 500 undocumented aliens involved in telecommunications fraud.

The 524 foreigners are composed of 424 Chinese, 23 Vietnamese, 25 Malaysians, 3 Indonesians, 4 Taiwanese and 45 citizens from Myanmar.

The operation was launched at the Golden Unicom Technolgy, Inc. in Parañaque City at about 9:40 p.m.

Initial investigation disclosed that the foreigners were engaged in offshore telecommunications investment fraud.

The suspects failed to provide special working permits when asked by authorities.

“The initial findings of the Bureau of Immigration is wala silang working permit (they don’t have working permit),” said NCRPO Chief Police Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar in a statement.

The suspects will be deported to their respective countries and will be blacklisted here.
