The RCMP have released the sketch of man wanted in connection with a sexual assault that allegedly occurred at a Coquitlam restaurant in August.

Coquitlam Mounties say a female staff member at a restaurant in the 500-block of Lougheed Highway was working when she was assaulted by a regular customer. Police didn’t reveal the name of the restaurant but said the alleged incident occurred around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 17.

Investigators believe the suspect’s identity may be known to some of the witnesses, but it’s likely he is being protected by their silence.

“Restaurant management has been very helpful, but other witnesses have been less than cooperative,” said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “If people are protecting the suspect with a code of silence, we’re hoping those people understand that the victim is dealing with both physical and psychological consequences. Someone needs to step up and do the right thing.”

The suspect is described as a white, or mixed-ethnicity, man who goes by the first name Jordan. He is in his late 20s or early 30s, stands about 5-10 or 5-11 and has a stocky build with strong hands. He had short, light-brown hair that was shaved on the sides and is known to typically wear a snapback baseball hat, a puffy jacket and red Air Jordan Jumpman-style pants.

“It’s our job as police to be impartial and we’re ready to hear everyone’s side of this story,” said McLaughlin. “But it’s important that we identify Jordan.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and quote File No. 2019-25296. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
