Suspicious package in Chinatown turns out to be false alarm

A suspicious package in Chinatown was no cause for concern after police determined the package was fake.
According to Sgt. Aaron Roed, cops were notified of a strange package in the 100-block of Keefer Street on Sunday morning.
No details were released about the package, though Roed said emergency response teams used “a number of available resources to investigate the incident,” including a robotic device used to handle possible explosives.
“The investigation is still ongoing but there is no threat to the public or surrounding area,” said Roed.
Keefer Street was closed between Main and Columbia streets while police dealt with the package, but should be reopened by Sunday afternoon.
