One dead in Surrey shooting while car on fire found in Burnaby

One man is dead and another in hospital following a Sunday evening shooting in Surrey, moments before car on fire was found in Burnaby.

Around 11 p.m. on Sunday, police began receiving calls reporting what sounded like gunshots in the 13600-block of 114 Avenue, near 136A Street.

Officers who arrived at the scene found one man shot dead and another man suffering from gunshot wounds. The surviving man was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Investigators say the incident appears to be targeted and that both men are known to police.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has since been tapped to probe the Sunday evening shooting.

Just minutes after the gunshots were reported in Surrey, Burnaby RCMP received reports of a car on fire at Fraser Foreshore Park, near Fraser Park Drive and Byrne Road.

Police say there is no definitive link between the shooting and the burned vehicle at this time but will continue to investigate.
