3 dead in ‘Tisoy’ onslaught — report

THREE people died as typhoon “Tisoy” (international name: Kammuri) wrought havoc in the country with its strong winds and heavy rains.

Claudio Yucot, director of Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol, in an initial report, said the fatality from Libmanan, Camarines Sur was identified as Marco Paulo Orsowa, 33, who was electrocuted as he was repairing the roof of their house at about 12 midnight.

Two people died in Oriental Mindoro, Governor Hubert Dolor said in an interview over radio dzMM.

Dolor said the first victim was a 59-year-old man who was pinned by a tree that was uprooted as he was clearing the front of his house in Baco.

The second victim was from the town of Pinamalayan who was hit by a roof that was ripped off from one of the houses as a result of the typhoon’s strong winds.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said that as of Tuesday morning, a preemptive evacuation was enforced in the regions of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol, Central Visayas and Eastern Visayas.
