DoTR offers free ferry rides

THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) will offer free rides during the soft launch of the Cavite-Manila Ferry service.
Transportation Secretary Arthur on Sunday said the free rides will start on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019 until Jan. 31, 2020.
He said ferry travel from Manila to Cavite and vice versa will only take 40 minutes.
The MV Island Sabtang can accommodate 57 passengers and will handle the Cavite City-Lawton trip while MB Seaborne Mercury, which can take 27 passengers, was assigned the Cavite City-CCP route. The vessels are provided by Shogun Ships Co. Inc. and Seaborne Shipping Lines Inc., respectively.
The fare for the Cavite City-Lawton trip was set at P160 while the Cavite City-CCP trip will cost P200. Discounts will apply to students and senior citizens upon presentation of their identification cards.
If the ferry service will be successful, the DOTr might expand the ferry services to cover the municipalities of Naic and Tanza in Cavite, to the SM Mall of Asia terminal in Pasay City. RAFFY AYENG
