Three suspects have been arrested in two separate shoplifting incidents in which loss prevention officers were threatened with weapons.

The first incident took place on Dec. 6 around noon, when a suspect was spotted allegedly stealing alcohol from a B.C. Liquor Store located on Commercial Drive.

A loss prevention officer was able to arrest a man but while in handcuffs, the suspect allegedly pulled a knife on the officer and fled. Vancouver police who attended the call were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.

Tyler Fitzpatrick, a 20-year-old man of no fixed address, is charged with several offences linked to the liquor store arrest and remains in custody. Fitzpatrick was the subject of multiple warrants issued across the province at the time of his arrest.

In another incident on Dec. 8, a man was caught allegedly trying to steal hundreds of dollars worth of clothing from Lululemon in Kitsilano. When a loss prevention officer attempted to stop him, the suspect brandished a can of bear spray and fled the store.

A short time later, a woman believed to be linked to the first suspect entered the store and also allegedly tried to steal clothing. The loss prevention officer was able to stop the second suspect and Vancouver police were called. VPD located the first suspect as well, and both were arrested.

Vancouver residents Andre Goudrea, 40, and Patricia Dove, 41, are charged with several offences linked to the incident and remain in custody.

A recent VPD blitz targeting shoplifters in downtown Vancouver saw officers arrest 25 individuals over a three-week period.
