Andanar hopes guilty verdict against Ampatuans, others

PRESIDENTIAL Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said on Thursday that he was hoping for a guilty verdict against the Ampatuans and other suspects of the Maguindanao maassacre in 2009.
“We are hoping na magkaroon ng guilty verdict ako as a media man. I have to be frank with you, I want to see [a] guilty verdict,” Andanar told the reporters in a chance interview.
Andanar said that the PCOO was optimistic on the outcome of the promulgation after a 10-year wait.
After the promulgation, Andanar said that the roots and causes of media killings should be addressed.
“We need to get on the root or cause of the problem,” said Andanar, a broadcast journalist before joining the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte. DARWIN PESCO
