NBI to probe Mindanao bombings

THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will investigate the spate of bombings that hit Cotabato City and two other towns in Mindanao that left 17 people injured.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra disclosed on Monday that a formal department order (DO) would be issued immediately “lest the evidence in the scene of the crime be spoilt.”
The bombings took place on Sunday night in Cotabato City and in the municipalities of Libungan in Cotabato province and Upi in Maguindanao.
“I’ll direct the NBI to get involved in the investigation ASAP (as soon as possible),” said Guevarra.
Guevarra said that Justice Undersecretary Adrian Sugay will issue the order as he was on leave. WILLIAM B. DEPASUPIL
