Vancouver Weather: More snow, and freezing temperatures

VANCOUVER, B.C.: Wednesday, Jan. 15. Snowfall and wind warnings remain in effect for Metro Vancouver, with up to 20 centimetres more snow expected Wednesday in some areas of the region, and a high of zero or wind chill factor of – 13 C, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada. The agency forecasts accumulations of 10 to 15 centimetres of snow for most parts of Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, and warns that driving could be difficult, especially in urban areas during rush hour. The snow is expected to ease late this morning, and then change to cloudy, with a chance of flurries later in the day. Overnight, snow flurries are expected to change to rain around midnight. Then, Thursday could be a slushy mess in many areas, as the temperature warms up to above zero and there is a chance of showers. There is also a wind warning in effect, with gusts of up to 90 km/h beginning Wednesday night, and easing Thursday morning. The agency warns that damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
Then, the weather looks calmer on Friday, with the forecast calling for cloudy skies and 4 C. Overnight, the rain returns with a low of 2 C and then the weekend also looks wet. Expect showers and 8 C on Saturday, and periods of rain on Sunday, with a high back up to amore seasonal 7 C.
Today: Snow at times heavy ending this morning then cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of flurries. Amount 10 to 20 cm. Wind east 30 km/h except 60 near the Strait of Georgia. High zero. Wind chill – 13 C this morning. UV index 1 or low.
Tonight: A few flurries changing to a few rain showers near midnight. Wind southeast 30 to 50 km/h except 70 gusting to 90 near the water. Temperature rising to plus 4 C by morning.
Tomorrow: Cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers. Windy near the water in the morning. Temperature falling to plus 1 C in the afternoon.
