Vancouver police are hoping the public can help locate irreplaceable Indigenous regalia and drums that were stolen from a parked vehicle last week.

Sgt. Aaron Roed said police were notified of the theft around 8 a.m. on Jan. 15. The regalia and four or five drums were taken from a vehicle parked in an open-air parkade at Richards and Pender streets in downtown Vancouver.

The items belong to a member of the Babine First Nation and are irreplaceable.

Roed said all officers assigned to patrol downtown and east Vancouver have been asked to keep a lookout for the items. Police are also working with the owner to find photos of the items that can be released publicly, in hopes a member of the public may recognize the stolen regalia and drums.

Anyone with information about the missing items is asked to contact police at 604-717-3321.
