Victoria police are asking residents to keep pets and children inside after a wolf was spotted in James Bay Saturday.

Patrol officers and conservation officers are responding to the confirmed sighting.

If you spot the wolf, B.C. Parks suggests trying to scare the animal by raising your arms and waving them in the air to appear larger before it comes within 100 metres.

If the wolf displays aggressive behaviour, back away slowly. Do not turn your back on the animal. The police tweet includes a link for more information.
