Police are seeking information about the homicide of a Coquitlam man whose body was found in Maple Ridge earlier this month.

Edi Bogere-Nyigwo, 24, was last seen leaving his Coquitlam home on Dec. 27, 2019. His body was later found on Jan. 11, 2020 in a forested area in the 24500-block of Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge.

Investigators are treating Bogere-Nyigwo’s death as a homicide. No motive has been determined but police say there is nothing to indicate the death is gang-related at this time.

“We don’t believe Edi’s death was random,” said Sgt. Frank Jang with the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

“We believe there are still those with important information who have yet to speak with us. Edi was a talented soccer player and a member of Coquitlam’s Sparta SC U-18 squad that won the Canadian National Championship. His friends describe him as someone who avoided trouble and many are wondering why anyone would harm him.”

Anyone with information about Bogere-Nyigwo’s death can contact investigators at 1-877-551-4448 or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
