Good new Monday for the family of Andrew and Keith Baldwin, brothers who were both killed weeks apart last year. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has announced that two men have been charged in Andrew’s murder.

Here’s my story:

Two men have been charged with a murder in Surrey last Remembrance Day.

Andrew Baldwin, 30, was killed inside a home in the 10700-block of 124th Street just before 5 p.m., only three weeks after his younger brother Keith, 27, was shot to death in Chilliwack.

Sgt. Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said Monday that Jordan Bottomley and Jagpal Hothi were arrested Friday and each face one count of first-degree murder.

“There was a great deal of co-ordinated effort by our investigators and many partners this past weekend that has resulted in charge approval,” Jang said. “IHIT is greatly appreciative of the support and assistance received from the many units that were involved in reaching this positive outcome.”

He said no further information will be released “as the matter is now before the court.”

Bottomley, 25, has convictions for possession of a controlled substance and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. Hothi, 20, has no convictions in B.C., according to the online court database.

Both appeared in Surrey provincial court Monday and were remanded in custody until their next appearance on Feb. 10.

No one has yet been charged in Keith Baldwin’s murder.
