Grammy-winning artist Brandi Carlile and country outlaw legend Steve Earle headline this year’s Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival which has been expanded to two days, Aug. 7 and 8, at Deer Lake Park.

The lineup is so deep with goodness that organizers needed to tack on an extra day. Along with the all-day review on Saturday, this year’s festival will also feature a Friday night lineup anchored by Earle and his backing band The Dukes.

Also hitting the stage Friday night are Saskatchewan country singer Colter Wall and Toronto rock-and-soul troubadour Jeremie Albino.

Carlile, who won three awards at the 2019 Grammys and brought the house down with a rendition of her hit The Joke, is headlining the Saturday lineup.

One of country music’s brightest lights, the native of Ravenswood, Washington added to her trophy case last month with a pair of wins at the 2020 Grammy Awards for her production and songwriting duties on Tanya Tucker’s comeback While I’m Livin’, which was named country album of the year.

Other acts scheduled for Saturday include the eight-piece St. Paul and The Broken Bones from Alabama, the Austin-based psychedelic soul Black Pumas, Philadelphia bluesman Son Little, gothic country singer Amigo the Devil and Vancouver roots singer Tonye Aganaba.

Early bird tickets, which are $35 (plus fees) for Aug. 7 and $50 for Aug. 7, go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster or at Shadbolt Centre for the Arts box office (6450 Deer Lake Avenue).
