Every year, June 27 is celebrated as Canadian Multiculturalism Day – a  day marked to celebrate and reflect upon the wealth of diversity that enriches our society. And Canada Day follows on July 1, Canada’s birthday – a celebration of the ratification of the Constitution Act this day in 1867.

These are important dates for our country and provide us with a good opportunity to reflect on our values of diversity and what multiculturalism means to us as a society and to the fabric of our country. At Canadian Immigrant, we believe that every day is a day to celebrate our diversity because our country is built upon so many different races, religions, and cultural practices. So let’s do our part to celebrate these values today and every day.

As Bardish Chagger, Minister of Diversity and Inclusion and Youth says in a statement released on Canadian Multiculturalism Day: “Our diversity has shaped our society and our way of life. People from around the world have come to Canada, hopeful of having the same opportunities and experiences as all Canadians, and with a common goal to achieve an inclusive, supportive, and diverse society in which everyone can thrive.”

She reminds us in this video below that: “Diversity has always been one of our greatest strengths. Yet, we must never forget that a multicultural society is always a work in progress.  It demands our effort, our attention and our care.”
