Toronto-based Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery announces an open call for applications to the 2022 RBC Emerging Artist Network, a year-long initiative developed to benefit 25 Toronto-based emerging artists. The deadline for submissions is July 17, 2022.

The Power Plant, a forum supporting diverse living artists while also engaging equally diverse audiences, will provide a range of resources during this mentorship, including exclusive networking opportunities with exhibiting artists, guest speakers and established art professionals.

Supported by RBC Foundation and the establishment of the RBC Emerging Artist Network, The Power Plant aims to assist emerging artists in advancing their careers and develop the community of artists based in and around Toronto.

“Part of our commitment as an arts institution is to build bridges for future generations of Canadian artists,” said Gaëtane Verna, Director & Artistic Director of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery. “The 25 artists selected for this RBC Emerging Artist Network program will get unparalleled access to a community of artists, curators, and art professionals that will contribute to furthering their careers.”

Selected participants will have first access to dedicated programming designed to provide mentorship, networking and tangible career development opportunities to these artists. The Power Plant encourages submissions from populations who have not been equitably represented in museums, including Black, Indigenous, artists of colour, LGBTQ2+, and people with disabilities.
