Light Up Toronto with Canada Diwali Fireworks

CANADA, OCTOBER 18, 2022:  The Toronto Harbourfront will see the skyline lit up this Saturday, October 22nd as Indo-Canada Arts Council hosts the first ever musical symphony fireworks with over 12 minutes of sparkles which is being presented by Sunray Group of Hotels. The Canada India Foundation, also proudly supports the initiative and is excited to be a part of this first time event. The evening is slated to celebrate the upcoming Diwali Festival with fireworks and cultural programs.  The idea, which has been conceived and conceptualised by Ratika and Ajaay Modi, will for the first time see Torontonians experiencing this musical symphony fireworks  in the inner harbour of downtown Toronto. The Diwali events that have been taking place in Mississauga and Niagara Falls so far, have been conducted by the Indo-Canada Arts Council, organisers of the largest Canada Diwali Razzmatazz festival series across Ontario.-

Patrons for Saturday’s event include Amar Bhatia, Ray Gupta, Satish Thakkar, Ritesh Malik, and Deepak Shamnani. The Toronto Fireworks are expected to be over 12 minutes long and can be seen at the inner harbour at 8PM. Jim Ward of Ward Pyrotechnics Inc., who has toured with Nickelback, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Rolling Stones and KISS will be conducting the fireworks. Jim has also been the man behind the effects at other events such as the Much Music Video Awards, New Years Eve party in Nathan Phillip Square as well as for the Toronto Argonauts, Raptors, Blue Jays, Maples Leafs and the Grey Cup. The event, hosted by multi-award winning media personality, Annie Koshy will have cultural programming starting at 6PM with the Mumbai based band, Kabir Café,  being flown in specifically for the event.  Several exclusive Diwali Fireworks Cruises shall be taking invited guests and dignitaries for the spectacular views of fireworks from behind the lake with the views of Toronto skyline and Fireworks. This year’s tagline is “Indiawali Diwali” and is representative of the North, South, East and Western parts of India in commemoration of India’s 75th Independence Celebrations.

The annual DIWALI RAZZMATAZZ festival, organised by the Indo-Canada Arts Council, has become a large crowd pulling event and is fondly attended by a wide diaspora of ethnicities. This year saw a large turnout attending the festival both in Mississauga as well as Niagara Falls after the last two and a half years of pandemic restrictions. With the support of various community organisations, ICAC and their inspiring volunteers provide a platform for ar0tists and performers from different faiths and beliefs to come together and enjoy FREE outdoor festive celebrations as one big family.

Festival Founder Ajaay Modi says, “This year, Diwali Razzmatazz is ensuring that it is truly an India wali celebration that is representative of all parts of India, from music, dance, food and the celebration of cultural traditions! Whether you like to dance to the beats of Bollywood or sway to diverse music we have had a month of celebrating Diwali across many cities!”

Festival artistic Director Ratika Modi says, “this year we had over 450 artists from a variety of cultural backgrounds celebrating arts and culture”.
