MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has deployed one million family food packs nationwide as the country braces for Super Typhoon Mawar, which is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility this weekend.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian revealed the department’s contingency measures during an inter-agency meeting at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Thursday.

The latest number of food packs marks over 300,000 more relief goods deployed by DSWD since it issued an update on Tuesday.
