MANILA, Philippines – Sen. Manny Pacquiao, who invoked the Holy Bible in previous discussions on the death penalty,  echoed Senate President Vicente Sotto III’s recent appeal not to drag Jesus Christ in debates on the reimposition of capital punishment in the country.

To encourage Filipinos to read the Bible in their mother tongue, representatives of Jehovah’s Witnesses released the Bibles in three languages — Cebuano, Waray-waray, and Tagalog and distributed free copies to some 300,000 native speakers across the country.
