The Crew Sets Sail Again! Miku Martineau Reacts to ‘Crew Girl’ Season 2 Renewal

Fans will be seeing more of Teagan, Josh, and Cam as Netflix has officially renewed its hit coming-of-age sports drama series Crew Girl for a second season. With the series continuing to make waves on the streaming platform worldwide, the cast is set to get back on the boat for another round of drama, romance, and rowing.

Crew Girl follows Teagan Tao, a talented female rower who relocates to the East Coast of the United States and discovers that her new school does not have a girls’ rowing team. After learning that the school has only been coed for two years, she agrees to become the coxswain for its chaotic boys’ varsity crew.

Last Wednesday, Netflix officially confirmed the renewal of the series starring Miku Martineau, Sam Braun, and Kyle Clark through a series of videos and an announcement article, giving fans a glimpse of what’s in store as the cast prepares to return for another season.

The news immediately sparked excitement across social media, with fans flooding the cast members’ comment sections and, of course, reigniting the question of who Teagan will ultimately choose between Josh and Cam—#TeamCam or #TeamJosh?

Following the announcement, Miku Martineau, who plays Teagan Tao, took to Instagram to share her excitement about the renewal. “Crew Girl got renewed for Season 2. Thank you. It’s such a gift that I get to share what I love to do. I am so so grateful,” she wrote.

In an article published by Netflix, Miku also teased what fans can expect from the upcoming season, saying, “I am beyond excited for Crew Girl Season 2! There’s so much left to explore with the characters, the romances, and the rowing team—it’s going to be a ride for sure! All I know is that it will definitely be a packed, juicy, drama-filled second season, so I’m ready to get back in a boat and on camera! #Teamteagan.”

With more stories to tell both on and off the water, fans can look forward to seeing Teagan and the crew back in action as Crew Girl sets sail for another season.

How did the series become such a hit?

Crew Girl quickly made waves on Netflix, particularly in the Philippines. As of this writing, the series sits at No. 3 on Netflix Philippines’ Top TV Shows, proving just how much viewers have embraced its mix of sports, romance, and coming-of-age drama.

One of the series’ biggest draws is its slow-burn approach to romance. It gives viewers the chance to simply sit back and watch the characters’ relationships unfold, especially as Teagan finds herself caught between two male characters who are equally compelling and seemingly good matches for her.

The series also arrives at a time when sports-centered romance stories are gaining attention among viewers. Recent titles such as the Canadian sports romance series Heated Rivalry and the American romantic drama Off Campus have likewise brought together athletic storylines and developing love stories, giving fans another genre to fall in love with.

But beyond the romance and the much-discussed love triangle, it is hard not to root for Teagan herself. As she navigates a new school, a new team, and complicated relationships, viewers are given plenty of reasons to cheer her on and see where her journey takes her next.

When will the second season premiere?

Since the second season has only just been announced, Netflix has yet to reveal an official premiere date for Crew Girl.

However, based on the timeline leading up to the first season, fans may have to wait until the third or fourth quarter of 2027 to see Teagan and the crew back on the water—though the exact release schedule has yet to be confirmed.
