Asiad: Eldrew Yulo claims bronze in horizontal bar final
Young gymnast Eldrew Yulo at the 20th Asian Games. POC Media(UPDATED) Young gymnast Eldrew Yulo netted the bronze medal in the Asian Games’ men’s horizontal bar in the final on Friday at the Nagoya General Gymnasium.
It was an impressive performance for the 18-year-old, already reaching the podium in his Asiad debut.
Despite Kazakhstan’s Milad Karimi tying Yulo’s 13.666 output, the Filipino representative had a better execution of 8.566, compared to the opposing side who had 7.766, to complete the podium finishers of the artistic gymnastics event.
Yulo turned emotional in the aftermath of the horizontal bar final.
“Sobra akong mixed emotions kanina, ‘di ko alam kung masa-sad, matutuwa, mapapa-proud, [or] maiiyak,” Yulo told Paige Javier of ABS-CBN News and POC Media.

China’s Hao Tian was victorious in that apparatus, securing the gold after posting a total of 14.700, while hometown hero Shinnosuke Oka took the silver with silver with 14.033.
Yulo was the last Filipino gymnast to take part in the sport’s final day at the continental sporting meet, as his elder brother, Carlos, bagged another gold medal for Team Philippines in the vault final earlier in the day.
