Negroni Week 2026: The Bars To Visit In Manila This Week

The negroni is going places.

From September 21 to 27, Negroni Week returns for its 14th year, bringing bars and bartenders together across Asia Pacific and around the world for a week of guest shifts, special menus and creative takes on the classic cocktail. The annual celebration, organized by Campari and Imbibe Magazine, also raises funds for charitable partner Slow Food.

This year, the Asia-Pacific program brings together bartenders and bar teams from cities including Hong Kong, Jakarta and Manila, turning Negroni Week into something more interesting than an excuse to order the same drink for seven days: a chance to see how different bar cultures approach the same classic.

Manila’s opening event took place September 21 at Back Room, where Agung Prabowo and Laura Prabowo of Hong Kong’s Penicillin joined Kiki Moka of The Cocktail Club in Jakarta for a guest shift.

Penicillin is known for its closed-loop approach to sustainable bartending, while The Cocktail Club represents Jakarta’s increasingly lively cocktail scene. Bringing the two teams to Manila put three Asian bar communities behind one counter for an evening of drinks, techniques and hospitality.

The September 21 guest shift at The Back Room is only one part of the week’s local program. Participating outlets across the Philippines range from serious cocktail bars and hotel lounges to neighborhood drinking spots, cafes and restaurants. Long Bar at Raffles Makati is also running its Negroni After Dark program through September 27, from 5 p.m. to midnight, with the classic alongside creative expressions of the drink.

The drink that keeps changing

Negroni is a remarkably simple drink: it’s just equal parts Campari, gin and sweet red vermouth, stirred with ice and finished with an orange peel. It’s generally traced to Florence around 1919, when Count Camillo Negroni asked for an Americano made with gin instead of soda. More than a century later, the formula remains essentially unchanged even as bartenders continue to reinterpret it.

According to the 2026 Drinks International Cocktail Report, the Negroni is the world’s best-selling classic cocktail in the world’s best bars.

One cocktail, a region of ideas

Negroni Week began in 2013 as a collaboration between Imbibe Magazine and Campari. What started as a celebration of one cocktail has grown into an annual gathering point for the international bar community, with participating venues supporting Slow Food.

This year’s Asia-Pacific program makes that community particularly visible. Hong Kong, Jakarta and Manila may have very different drinking cultures, but for one week they share a counter, a cocktail and a reason to raise a glass.

And that may be the best reason to go looking for a Negroni this week.

Negroni Week runs until September 27, 2026.
