Sara Duterte, Mans Carpio have 30 active accounts in 8 banks, prosecution says

MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte and her husband Manases Carpio’s undeclared cash is pegged at P190 million, the prosecution panel alleged on Tuesday as the Senate impeachment court began tackling the second-in-command’s bank records.

The prosecution told the court that the vice president and her husband have 30 active bank accounts across 8 banks with the following year-end balances:

– 2022: P59 million +

– 2023: P71 million +

– 2024: P22 million +

– 2025: 35 million +

Land Bank Davao R. Magsaysay Branch Manager Racquel Dela Cerna said that Duterte closed two accounts in their branch, while Carpio’s lone account remains active with a balance of P1.358 million as of 2025.

Land Bank San Pedro Davao Branch Manager Eunice Sumatra, on the other hand, was unable to present the certificate of outstanding balance for Duterte’s payroll account.

“It’s not among the documents. It was not submitted by this bank. It was determined that it was not included,” counsel for prosecution James Ibrahim Alih said.

The prosecution did not further expound why Sumatra was unable to present the said document, and why they agreed to excuse the witness without confirming the current balance of her payroll account.

“That’s one account out of the eight banks that we will be presenting through their different representatives,” prosecution spokesperson Benjamin Tolosa Jr. said in a press conference.

“Para sa amin, yung targets namin for presenting this bank accounts we’ll still be able to achieve that despite the absense of that one document,” he said.

The Philippine vice president usually earns between P330,000 and P350,000 monthly, senator judges said, citing the current salary grade for the position.

The Senate impeachment court adjourned the trial after the two Land Bank managers were presented, saying that the remaining bank officials would be tackled on October 7.

The prosecution is expected to present 11 other bank executives and 7 insurance company representatives to thresh out the alleged undeclared wealth of the vice president.
