Surviving loyalty tests, switching lives, and more: “The Loyalty Game” stars discuss their characters’ complex personalities

The ongoing cycles of dark secrets, manipulative tactics, and power plays slowed down for a while in “The Loyalty Session,” during which the outstanding actresses of “The Loyalty Game: Level Up” responded to thought-provoking questions associated with their intriguing characters.

When asked which character was most likely to survive a loyalty test, Janine Gutierrez confidently named her riveting role as Ana. She then described Ana’s deep love for her husband, Ben (Jericho Rosales), emphasizing that there are no ambiguities regarding their strong affection for each other. Despite this, external influences such as her emotionally troubled mother Imelda (Carmina Villaroel) would trigger Ana’s doubts to intensify.

“Super love niya talaga si Ben, wala namang question sa pagmamahalan nung dalawa. It’s just na minsan parang nabubulungan ka rin [ng ibang tao], ‘di ba? Tapos ‘yun nga ‘yung women’s intuition, which is true naman dapat pinapakinggan,” Janine explained.

The next actress that answered another query was Yen Santos, who appears on the show as the hard-working Diane, an experienced loyalty tester. Everyone wondered deeply if they could really relate to their characters, while Yen received the admiration of her castmates upon elaborating the way she felt connected with Diane.

“I relate to Diane kasi kahit na marami siyang dala emotionally, she still functions and shows up for the people she loves. Tahimik lang magmahal si Diane pero very deep, ganun din ako,” Yen added.

In the context of switching lives with her character as the charming and deceptive Bridgette, Elisse Joson would certainly try the loyalty test to better comprehend the risky yet interesting profession.

Meanwhile, Sofia Andres became quite stern when offering honest advice to her character, Beth. Sofia simply said “Behave,” which could be interpreted as a warning concerning Beth’s erratic fate and unpredictable behavior when she eventually gets involved with Ana and Ben.

The very first loyalty tester we witnessed in action was Kira Balinger’s Angel, who is actually the youngest recruit of the women-led group. Based on Angel’s profile and existing interactions with the other characters on the series, Kira couldn’t yet precisely identify the individual that her younger self ought to be wary of.

“I think hindi ko [pa] masasagot kasi ‘yung character ko hindi pa gaano ka-deep ‘yung knowledge niya about [the] other characters, kumbaga wala pa gaanong interaction… Abangan na lang guys, sino kaya sa tingin n’yo ang pinaka-sketchy?” Kira teased.

After hearing Kira’s words, Elisse, Sofia, and Carmina spoke of the other suspicious characters, which led to everyone agreeing. “Actually ‘yung mga lalaking [characters] dito ha,” Carmina hinted.

As for Maika Rivera, she would never recreate the decisions made by her own character Carlota in the real world, especially those that used manipulation. Although she understood the skills that were necessary to qualify as a loyalty tester, she ultimately refused to play with people’s emotions.

At the mention of a therapy session, Carmina instantly declared Imelda to be the person who needed it most, considering her times of distress portrayed in the series. Almost immediately, the rest of the cast joined in the discussion, expressing that they would like therapy as well.

Pay close attention to the personal stories they’ll depict in “The Loyalty Game: Level Up,” weekdays at 9:30 PM on ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2, Kapamilya Channel, TV5, A2Z, and Kapamilya Online Live (KOL) on Facebook and YouTube. The series is also accessible on TFC, and iWant subscribers can stream the episodes seven days ahead of television airing.
