BNV2K’s single ‘Nag-Iisang Ikaw’ turns struggles into song of hope

MANILA — Rising pop group BNV2K sees the growing traction of its song “Nag-Iisang Ikaw” as motivation to keep pursuing music despite the struggles they have faced along the way.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, group leader, composer and lyricist Joven “Ven” Cruz said the song’s increasing number of streams has become a source of encouragement for the group.

“Para sa amin ito ang magsisilbing root o ugat para sa amin. Ang reason namin para kung bakit kailangan pa naming tumuloy. Na mayroon pa ring taong makaka-appreciate. So ito ‘yung magsisilbing root namin,” Cruz said.

Released in July 2025, “Nag-Iisang Ikaw” was composed and arranged by Cruz. Armed with lyrics fueled by personal experiences and struggles of the band members, Cruz conceived “Nag-Iisang Ikaw” as an inspirational song.

The song delivers a message of hope, faith, and perseverance, reminding listeners that even during life’s most difficult moments, there is always a reason to keep moving forward.

“Basically the song is an inspiration that can be applied to either person or anything nag-iinspire to you para lumaban. But ‘yung main niya talaga is with God. Parang ‘yung advices that you get from the Bible, which can be applied din sa person. ‘Yung payo naman na nakukuha mo sa tao na nagagamit mo para maging matatag ka,” Cruz said.

BNV2K dedicates “Nag-Iisang Ikaw” to all those who are struggling, hoping that fans and listeners will take its message to heart — to “never give up” and remember that “you are not alone.”

“There will always be someone who supports you,” stressed Cruz, who also thanked their fans and supporters.

“Sobrang thankful po kami sa pag-appreciate ng music kahit pa nandoon kami sa pinakababa ay nandoon na sila at nakikinig, nag-aantay. Gusto kong malaman nila na sobra kaming blessed dahil nandiyan sila at patuloy na naniniwala sa amin,” he said.

Formed in 2020, BNV2K is composed of a group of friends who shared a love for music. With Cruz as the group’s leader and Roberto “Bito” Bello, who initially handled beats and production, the band was originally named Beats and Vibes.

BNV2K eventually became known as Banda ni Ven, with “2K” reflecting the group’s musical influences from the 2000s and beyond.

The group is committed to creating original music that tells stories and connects with listeners.

The group’s current members includes Cruz, Bello, Aiyen Miñano, Chandlr Delos Reyes, RV Porton, Den Miñano, and Win Manrique, with substitute members PJ Daban, Myra Kabigting and Faye Mailen.

Recently, “Nag-iisang Ikaw” made its way onto the charts of one of Manila’s top radio stations, marking another milestone for the band.

Currently, BNV2K is gearing up for a promotional tour to bring their music and message to a wider audience.
