Beauty clinic exec arrested in Batangas over estafa, other charges
MANILA — A woman tagged as one of the most wanted persons in the Calabarzon region was arrested in Barangay Sta. Rita Karsada, Batangas City, police said.
The suspect, Maila Baruc Castillo, was ranked No. 10 on the region’s most wanted persons list. She was arrested on Tuesday.
Police said Castillo was the subject of multiple warrants of arrest involving cases of estafa, syndicated estafa, and alleged violations of the Securities Regulation Code and other laws.
The warrants covered cases filed in courts in Dasmariñas City, Sta. Rosa City, Calamba City, Pasay City, Quezon City and Batangas City.
Several of the cases carried recommended bail, while others had no bail recommended.
Castillo was also among those named as a co-accused of actress and television personality Rufa Mae Quinto in a case involving the investment firm Dermacare-Beyond Skin International.
However, the case against Quinto was later dismissed by the court. The dismissal of Quinto’s case does not necessarily affect the separate cases and warrants against Castillo.
Castillo is in custody of San Pascual Municipal Police Station, authorities said.
