Denise Julia celebrates first Filipino Music Award for ‘LOVE AGAIN’

Filipina R&B singer-songwriter and producer Denise Julia is celebrating a major milestone after winning R&B Song of the Year at the 2026 Filipino Music Awards for her song “LOVE AGAIN.”

Although she was unable to attend the awards ceremony due to her commitments in the United States, Denise Julia took to social media to share how much the recognition meant to her, especially since it marked her first Filipino Music Award.

“R&B song of the year… wow. Thank you so much, FMAs. it pains me not to be able to attend and be there tonight. My tour is less than a month away, and I’m on the other side of the world rehearsing day and night,” Denise Julia wrote.

“This is my first-ever Filipino Music Award, and the fact that it’s for LOVE AGAIN means the world to me,” she added.

For Denise Julia, the award holds an even deeper significance because of the personal experiences that inspired the song.

“This song was created during a strange chapter of my life. There was so much change, pain, growth, and so many lessons that came with it. I poured a lot of that into this song and into the project as a whole,” she said.

She also described “LOVE AGAIN” as one of the biggest musical risks she has taken

“Sonically and lyrically, this was also one of the biggest risks I’ve taken. I’ve never made a song like this before. There was a part of me that wondered if people would understand it and if fans would come with me into this new era of my music. So for this song to be recognized like this feels like reassurance that taking that risk was worth it,” she expressed.

Denise Julia also made sure to share the achievement with the people behind the song, recognizing the producers, writers, engineers, and members of her team who helped bring “LOVE AGAIN” to life.

“A song never belongs to just one person once it leaves the room it was created in. So thank you to every producer, writer, engineer, member of my team, and every person who helped bring this record to life. Thank you for seeing something in this track and believing in its potential, especially in the moments when I needed a little convincing myself. Every hand that touched this song is part of this win,” she said.

The R&B singer also congratulated fellow winner ALAMAT, whose song “Sinigang” shared the R&B Song of the Year award: “And congratulations to my fellow artists, ALAMAT, for sharing this win with me. I’m incredibly grateful to be alongside fellow Filipino artists who continuously push our wins!”

Denise Julia ended her message by celebrating the significance of having a sapphic song receive recognition at the awards.

“A sapphic song just won R&B song of the year in the Philippines!!! How many times can we say that? Here’s to women loving women. and to loving again!”

Denise Julia is currently based in the United States, where she continues to pursue her music career. Just this May, she signed with EMPIRE, a US-based independent record label and distribution company that has worked with major international artists including Kendrick Lamar, Bebe Rexha, Anderson .Paak, Tyga, G-Dragon, T-Pain, and Cardi B.

She also released her third EP, LOVE AGAIN, which features six tracks: “2GOOD4U,” “CHANGES,” “TREAT ME RIGHT,” “LOVE AGAIN,” “SPEECHLESS,” and “BODY ON ME.”

Following the release of the EP, Denise Julia is set to bring “LOVE AGAIN” to North America through her upcoming tour, which will kick off this November. The singer has also announced that tickets for the shows have already sold out.
