In May 2025, Netflix confirmed that Bridgerton would return for two more seasons, renewing the hit series for seasons 5 and 6.
The streaming platform later revealed in March 2026 that production for the fifth season had started.
Alongside the announcement, Netflix unveiled a teaser featuring Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela (Masali Baduza), whose developing romance will take center stage in the upcoming season. The teaser offers a glimpse into their growing connection, hinting at the romantic tension between the two characters.
The fifth season will take place two years after the death of Francesca’s husband, John.
As Francesca considers entering the marriage market again for practical reasons, the return of John’s cousin Michaela to London to manage the Kilmartin estate brings unexpected feelings to the surface.
Francesca soon finds herself facing a difficult choice between pursuing the future she had carefully planned and embracing her true feelings for Michaela.
