LTO eyes 1-year license suspension for rider involved in ‘It’s Showtime’ host hit-and-run
MANILA – The Land Transportation Office’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (LTO-IID) has recommended a one-year suspension on the driver’s license of the motorcycle rider involved in a hit-and-run of ‘It’s Showtime’ host Cianne Dominguez’s car in Antipolo City recently.
The motorcycle rider, who was also the registered owner of the vehicle, appeared before the LTO-IID hearing on Friday, October 9.
The rider, the LTO said, has submitted his explanation in response to the show-cause order.
“He admitted and confirmed that he was the registered owner and the rider of the… motorcycle bearing plate…, as shown in the video,” the LTO report said.
According to the LTO-IID, the rider narrated that while he and his wife were on their way to Antipolo Church, the vehicle driven by Dominguez suddenly stopped to give way to a passing tricycle.
However, despite his attempt to apply the brakes and maneuver his motorcycle, he was unable to avoid the collision.
“He further explained that, being a new and inexperienced driver, he became nervous and frightened following the incident, which prompted him to immediately leave the scene,” the LTO said.
The LTO added that the rider expressed his willingness to settle the matter with Dominguez.
Dominguez told ABS-CBN News that she was not able to attend the LTO’s invitation due to a busy schedule, but said her father was present during the hearing.
According to the LTO-IID, it has been established that sufficient grounds exist to find the respondent liable for several administrative violations and penalties including reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle, among others.
Among the penalties recommended is the suspension of the license for one year, LTO Chief Markus Lacanilao confirmed to ABS-CBN News.
The LTO is expected to release its resolution on the matter soon.
