It’s a sign! How these “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal” players chose their briefcases

Out of the 20 briefcases this season, you only get to pick one on “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal.” And once you’ve made your choice, there’s no turning back. That’s the briefcase you’ll either fight for until the very end or eventually agree to ‘sell’ to the Banker, so choosing the right briefcase number is really a big deal.

That’s why Lucky Players have their own rituals and reasons for picking a particular briefcase, whether it’s a lucky number, a special date, or a random omen from the universe that they’re hoping will lead them straight to the million-peso prize.

When mother-and-son duo “The Aguinaldos” played “Kapamilya Deal or No Deal,” Lester gave his mom, Mommy Ganda, the freedom to choose their ultimate briefcase, and being the Vilma Santos fan that she is, Mommy Ganda gambled on Briefcase 3 in honor of her idol’s birthday, November 3.

Sometimes, players trust what they believe are premonitions, just like Ynez Veneracion, who went with number 12, which had already popped into her head the night before and, as if the universe wanted to make sure she got the message, randomly appeared on a screen the next day.

Jeremy G also trusted the ‘signs.’ It was as if he couldn’t escape the number 12 on the day of his game, so he figured he might as well listen to what the destiny seemed to be telling him and go with Briefcase 12.

Angel numbers, or repeating number sequences believed to carry special messages from the cosmos, were AC Bonifacio’s basis for choosing her briefcase. Before taping started, she already had her eyes on Briefcase 4 after repeatedly spotting “444.” And as if that wasn’t enough of a sign, Ynez, who was holding Briefcase 4, was wearing red, which is AC’s favorite color.

Their sixth sense really worked for Abdul and Marsy’s favor. Originally, the night before their game, Marsy had a strong random feeling about the number 6, which he dismissed at first. And then during taping the next day, their co-Lucky Star Jannah Chua dropped by their dressing room with a box of donuts which had six pieces. And Jannah also happened to be holding Briefcase No. 6, which they picked and, as luck would have it, they ended up winning a million pesos.

Since he was playing for his family in the first place, Long Mejia let them inspire his pick, too, choosing Briefcase 8 in honor of his grandchild, one of his favorite people, whose birthday falls on the 8th.

And sometimes, you’ve just got to stop overthinking. Even with so many numbers to choose from, Jeffrey Santos decided to stick with the briefcase he was assigned to, Briefcase 14, and trust that it was his lucky number.

Now, imagine yourself standing in front of those 20 briefcases, Kapamilya. Which number would you trust with your million-peso dreams?
