Vince Maristela, Verna, and Divine Tetay share little-known facts about Vice Ganda
More than six years since the final episode of its first iteration was aired in 2020, “Gandang Gabi Vice” truly delighted avid fans when it finally made its grand return last September 13.
However, unlike in its first run from 2011 to 2020, host Vice Ganda isn’t alone this time. She is joined not just by one, not just by two, but by three co-hosts collectively known as the Geng Gang, comprised of stand-up comedian Divine Tetay, Kapuso actor and “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition” alumnus Vince Maristela, and “Someone, Someday” star Verna Joy Periwinkle.
Although it has been almost a month since they started working together in the hit late-night talk show, the bond between the country’s Unkabogable Superstar and the Geng Gang goes beyond the screens and dates way back. The Geng Gang proves it by sharing their favorite “Meme-mory,” or “core memory,” with our one and only Meme Vice, as well as fun facts about her that they would like everyone to know in this exclusive ABS-CBN Studios video!
For Vince, his favorite memory with Vice happened during his stint in the “Laro Laro Pick” segment of “It’s Showtime” last June, which actually went viral. It was when he mistakenly named ABS-CBN executive Cory Vidanes instead of Charo Santos when Vice asked him who hosts Asia’s longest-running drama anthology, “Maalaala Mo Kaya.”
He disclosed that his moment with Vice didn’t simply end with that day’s episode, as they later went out that night with their other friends and colleagues, where they not only had fun but also had a deep and insightful conversation. He related, “Everytime na nakakasama ko siya, iba talaga ‘yong nararamdaman ko. Iba-iba.”
Verna’s favorite “Meme-mory” also happened on “It’s Showtime” when she joined the “Breaking Muse” pageant, which she eventually won. She couldn’t hide her kilig as she reminisced about the first time she got to banter with Vice, sharing, “Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi ‘yong nag-iisang Vice Ganda ‘yong kasama mo sa stage, of course, along with other hosts ng ‘It’s Showtime.’”
Divine Tetay, who has been longtime friends with the Unkabogable Host for years, related that among his favorite memories with her were their kulitan moments while filming scenes together for the 2015 film “Beauty and the Bestie,” as well as a memorable moment when they took a bath together.
Each of the Geng Gang members went on to share one fun fact about Vice. Vince revealed that she is actually such a thoughtful person that every time they talk, she shares a lot of advice about his career and how things should be done, drawing from her own experiences.
“Para sa akin nakaka-inspire lang din talaga kasi isa siyang patunay na walang imposible,” the Kapuso actor said.
Verna, meanwhile, gushed about how beautiful Vice is, even comparing her to a Barbie doll, especially when she started her blonde era.
Attesting to how long and deep their friendship has been, Divine Tetay confessed that he actually doesn’t want to sleep with Vice in one room because they have different preferences when it comes to air-conditioning settings. While he prefers the temperature to be so cold that he is practically freezing, Vice, on the other hand, prefers it to be just as cool as an electric fan.
