Nike introduces new race-day footwear lineup for runners
HandoutNike has introduced a new race-day footwear lineup featuring three models designed to meet the needs of runners with different goals, experience levels and preferences.
The lineup consists of the Nike Apex, Alphafly 4 and Swooshfly, each designed for a distinct racing experience. The company said the collection expands its road-running footwear range with technologies developed through athlete research and testing.
The Nike Apex is designed for runners seeking maximum marathon performance, while the Alphafly 4 balances responsiveness, comfort, stability and efficiency over long distances. The Swooshfly focuses on cushioning and confidence for runners preparing to compete.
“Race day is one of the most meaningful moments in a runner’s journey, but that moment looks different for everyone,” said Bret Schoolmeester, Nike’s vice president of running footwear.
“With Nike Apex, Alphafly 4 and Swooshfly, we created a system that helps runners choose the experience they want on race day, whether that means finding the confidence to step onto a starting line for the first time or chasing every possible second in pursuit of a breakthrough performance,” he said.
Nike said the new lineup draws on more than five decades of running innovation, from co-founder Bill Bowerman’s handcrafted racing spikes to the super shoes introduced more than a decade ago.
The footwear combines Nike’s Air Zoom platforms, advanced foams and engineered plates, with each model developed to address different needs in comfort, confidence, efficiency and speed.
The company said its product development process begins with identifying runners’ needs, studying them at the Nike Sport Research Lab, and testing solutions with athletes before the products reach the market.
