In a social media livestream on Saturday, Cayetano said that he has been receiving information from unnamed sources that Lacson has been pressuring conractors to support a narrative that there are irregularities in the projects,
“Sinong hindi matatakot sa plunder ngayon, especially sa pinagtuturo ni Senator Lacson?” he said.
(Who wouldn’t be scared of plunder cases, especially with what Sen. Lacson has been claiming?)
Cayetano said his advice to the contractors as well as to Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon and other concerned government agencies is to do what is right.
“Not everyone has the same courage or stamina or patience or guts to stand up for what is right, especially against very, very high officials, especially in this highly-charged atmosphere,” he said.
Cayetano and his sister Sen. Pia Cayetano have been alleging pressure from the administration related to the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
But Lacson challenged his fellow senator to “name the ‘individuals’ he alleged I threatened, so I can properly address this new issue point by point.”
He added “spinning tales betrays panic but like guilt, it will never go away.”
Lacson’s team earlier submitted evidence to the Office of the Ombudsman, which then began conducting fact-finding investigation into the matter.
