Mavy at Cassy, tinuruan ng Gen Z acronyms sina Carmina at Zoren | Gandang Gabi, Vice!
Parents and kids may be spending more time on the same social media apps these days, but that doesn’t mean they speak the same internet language.
With new slang and acronyms popping up almost every day, keeping up with Gen Z vocabulary can feel confusing. So, in the latest episode of “Gandang Gabi Vice,” Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel-Legaspi got a crash course in Gen Z acronyms from their kids Mavy and Cassy.
For this little game, Mavy and Cassy had to read out a series of internet acronyms while Zoren and Carmina raced to guess their meaning. First up was “IMO,” which, believe it or not, even Cassy wasn’t sure about. FYI, it stands for “in my opinion.”
The guessing game continued with “SMH” and “NGL,” both of which left Zoren and Carmina clueless. And then Carmina managed to decipher the last one, “NBD,” thanks to a tiny hint. Meanwhile, Zoren jokingly blamed his lack of correct answers on the fact that he didn’t know his wife and kids had a secret group chat without him. LOL!
According to Mavy and Cassy, the chat group was ‘founded’ by Zoren, although he has no idea that the siblings sometimes create a separate GC with Mommy Carmina where he’s often the main topic, especially when he gets little cranky or when his social media posts make them cringe.
