QUEZON — A security guard on a motorcycle was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding suspects along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Lagalag, Tiaong, Quezon, on Saturday afternoon.

The 37-year-old victim, who worked at a poultry dressing plant, was killed on the spot in the shooting at around 5:20 p.m.

Although the actual shooting was not captured on CCTV, police tracked the suspects’ movements using footage from surveillance cameras along the highway.

According to Tiaong Municipal Police Station chief PLt. Col. Redelio Calawit, CCTV footage showed the suspects changing their shirts.

The alleged gunman, who was riding pillion, also removed his helmet, allowing investigators to identify him as an employee of the poultry dressing plant where the victim also worked.

In a follow-up operation, police arrested the 41-year-old alleged gunman in Barangay Tagbakin. He also revealed the identity of the motorcycle driver, Calawit said.

Police said the alleged motive was the victim’s repeated reprimands of the suspects for frequently bringing his cellphones into the plant’s production area.

Authorities are continuing their follow-up operations to arrest the motorcycle driver.
